What Makes a Frontal Different from a Closure

A closure covers a small square at the crown of your head and closes off your sew-in at a specific parting point. A frontal is a different product with a different purpose.

A 13x4 frontal runs the full width of your hairline — 13 inches from ear to ear, 4 inches back from the hairline toward your crown. It doesn't just give you a part. It gives you a complete hairline that lets you:

• Pull your hair into a high ponytail without exposing tracks or your natural hairline
• Wear a half-up, half-down style freely
• Part left, part right, part down the middle — or not part at all
• Create a slicked-back look with full edge definition from both temples

Why HD Lace Is the Only Lace Worth Using

HD (High Definition) lace is the thinnest, most undetectable lace available. Originally developed for film and stage productions — where hairlines are examined in high resolution and extreme close-up — it's become the industry standard for any install where the hairline has to look completely real.

At 0.1mm thick, it's lighter and more breathable than standard transparent lace and adapts to all skin tones without needing heavy tint or foundation to blend in. When your stylist presses it down, it simply disappears.

The Curl Pattern

"Burmese Curly" is the industry name for this curl pattern — a defined 3B–3C corkscrew curl with real volume and movement. The name refers to the texture style, not the geographic origin of the hair.

This frontal is steam-set to match our Raw Burmese Curly Bundles exactly. Same pattern. Same raw base. When you install them together, the hairline blends seamlessly because they're designed as a set. The curl reverts after every wash — wet it, scrunch, air dry, and your pattern comes back clean with no extra products needed.

Because both the frontal and bundles start from an unprocessed raw base, color takes cleanly and evenly across the full install. If you're planning to lift to blonde or add color, raw hair gives you the most predictable result.

Note on Length: A 14" frontal pairs naturally with bundle installs in the 14"–18" range. An 18" frontal is the right call when your bundles are 20"+ so the length transitions naturally at the hairline. When in doubt, match the frontal to your shortest bundle or go one length shorter.

13x4 vs. 13x6 — What's the Difference?

Both are ear-to-ear frontals. The difference is how far back the lace extends from your hairline.

A 13x4 gives you 4 inches of lace coverage back from your hairline — sufficient for the vast majority of installs including sew-ins, custom wigs, and protective styles.

A 13x6 gives you 6 inches back, which means more parting space deeper into the crown and more flexibility for very deep side parts or styles that require coverage further back on the scalp.

For most buyers and most styles, the 13x4 is the right choice.

Installation Note

A frontal requires more customization than a closure. Pre-plucking is already done, but your stylist will still need to trim the lace, melt it to your skin, and secure the perimeter. We strongly recommend professional installation to protect both the frontal and your natural hairline, and to get the full benefit of the HD lace melt.

Bleaching the Knots

The knots on this frontal are small and single — already minimal and difficult to detect with HD lace. Bleaching is optional, not required. If your stylist chooses to bleach, do not leave bleach on HD lace for more than 60 seconds. The ultra-thin lace will be damaged by over-processing. Most experienced stylists working with HD lace skip the bleach entirely — the lace itself does the work.

How to Care for Your Frontal

Wash: Co-wash or sulfate-free shampoo. Wash with a gentle downward motion — never scrub the lace.

Dry: Gently pat the lace dry with a microfiber towel. Air dry the hair, diffuse on low heat if needed.

Curl refresh: Mist lightly with water, scrunch, let air dry. The curl pattern comes back on its own.

Protect the perimeter: The edges of the lace near the temples are the most delicate area. Avoid saturating with heavy oils or serums — these cause buildup and weaken the lace over time.

Storage: When not installed, lay flat on a wig head or store in a satin bag to protect the lace and preserve the curl.
